Myofunctional Therapy FAQs
Myofunctional therapy is an evidence-based program that retrains the muscles of the tongue, lips, cheeks, and face to improve breathing, swallowing, chewing, speech, and sleep. Therapy focuses on establishing healthy habits like nasal breathing, proper tongue posture, and an effective swallow to support lifelong oral and airway health. At Breath Restored Myofunctional Therapy, we provide personalized care for children and adults in Ogden, Pleasant View, and throughout Northern Utah, with virtual appointments available for eligible patients.
Myofunctional therapy is often recommended both before and after a tongue tie release to achieve the best possible outcome. Before the procedure, therapy helps improve tongue awareness, mobility, and muscle coordination. After the release, it supports healing, prevents old movement patterns from returning, and retrains healthy breathing, swallowing, and tongue posture. Every patient is unique, and we work closely with your other healthcare providers to determine the right treatment plan for your individual needs.
